Changing Appraisal Periods

Changing Appraisal Periods

When changing appraisal periods please check:

  • Has appraisal documents been submitted by the appraisee?  Or
  • Has the Form 4 been forwarded?

If the answer is yes to either of the above - liaise with the helpdesk for assistance BEFORE you amend the appraisal period.

The reason for this is because since January 2025, the new setup ties the appraisal period to the submission documents in the new PDF format.  Changing the period will render the PDFs inaccessible and requires the SOAR helpdesk team to rename the PDFs.

If the appraisal has been completed then you will not be able to change the appraisal period.  Contact the helpdesk with details of the changes required (along with GMC number of the appraisee involved) and we will investigate and assist from there.

Editing appraisal periods

If the appraisal is blank (i.e. nothing has been submitted) then you can go ahead and edit the appraisal period without issues.  Simply navigate to the appraisal in question, select the appropriate period and click Save at the top.

If the appraisal period you wish to change to is not available (e.g. you are retrospectively adding a manual appraisal for ARCPs or other reasons), please liaise with the helpdesk team for assistance.
