The video was recorded for the purposes of facilitating learners discussions at the Medical Appraisal Scotland appraiser training courses. They are designed as learning tools to stimulate discussions rather than prime examples.

The appraisee and appraiser on the clip are roleplaying. The material portrayed does not relate to any actual appraisal interviews but is based on the roleplayers' experience of appraisal gained over a number of years. Any similarity with others' experience is entirely coincidental.

How could the appraiser approach the appraisal meeting?
What questions do you have pre-meeting?
How would you open up the discussion to find out what is going on?
How would you open this up further?
