Recognition of Trainers (RoT)

Recognition of Trainers (RoT)

Since July 2016 all "named-trainer" roles require formal recognition in keeping with the GMC Recognition of Trainers policy.

Becoming an trainer

Initial recognition is a process managed by the DMEs (Directors of Medical Education) in the health boards.  When recognised, the trainers are asked to complete an extra RoT form on SOAR as part of their appraisal.

If you are interested in becoming a trainer, please visit the Scotland Deanery website.

Appraisal in the trainer role

There is a dedicated ROT manual on the Scotland Deanery website with further guidance for both the trainers and the appraisers which may be useful.
