Performance

Performance

Discuss and reflect on aspects of the quality of the work you do

This is different from the Quality Improvement Activities in Domain 2 (audit etc). It is intended as a place for describing or demonstrating some of the ways in which you try to ensure a high standard of your work, and to demonstrate this with descriptive examples.

You can also describe areas that you see as a challenge, for reflective discussion with your appraiser.

There are no essential pieces of supporting information for this section. Some suggestions are:

  • Your QOF performance, particularly in areas for which you hold the lead
  • Your other areas of personal clinical responsibility in the practice
  • Implementation of a guideline or formulary
  • Care planning in a nursing home
  • External markers of quality such as QPA
  • How you keep up to date in another role e.g. out of hours, as a trainer or in an external post
  • Induction and preparation for work as a locum
  • Reflective case studies that you have discussed in a small study group (such as PBSGL)

[THE ABOVE ARE ALL GP EXAMPLES - CAN YOU PROVIDE SOME SEC CARE EXAMPLES TO ADD TO THE ABOVE?]

A reflective template is provided below to help you write up your reflection.

For GPs, further suggestions can be found in the Sessional GP Toolkit or the Out of Hours Toolkit.
