Medical Appraiser: training scheme

Medical Appraiser: training scheme

The Medical Appraisal Scheme in Scotland offers doctors formative, systematic and regular review with a peer.  It also supports doctors in preparing for revalidation, allowing a positive demonstration of fitness to practise.

Medical appraisers, employed by health boards, are trained by NES to ensure consistency and approach to appraisals.  "New Appraiser" courses are designed for those new to the role; whilst we have a programme of "Refresher Appraiser" activities to support the appraiser workforce's ongoing development.

For more information please visit our appraiser training page.

Summaries of our training can also be found in our annual reports.
